My corn is 4-5 years old. About 5feet long. 24"x24"x13" tank. I recieved him about a year ago. Since I live in the desert it's usually pretty warm, even inside.
I actually prefer the temperature in my house to be 75-80F (i shiver below 73F). This leads me to a problem with my snake. Most of the recomendations I've seen say the gradient should go from 65-75F.
I assume many people in other places have their homes around 65F so a heat lamp or head pad would work well for them. The gradient in his cage is 75-80 and he spends much of his time under his large doggie water dish. He doesn't quite fit all the way under it, he slides under and it sits on top of him.
Anyway the point is I don't need a heating pad here, I need to cool half his cage to provide the proper gradient since the ambient temperature is already at the upper end of the gradient. How can I do that?
I was thinking of getting one of those little 12v mini-coolers that hold like 6 sodas and just putting it face down and open on the top of the cage, but that just seems tacky.
I found the "Thermocare Vivarium Heatmat" on this page http://www.toppetshop.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Accessories_74.html
It says it also comes with a "Cool Mat" but I couldn't find any reference or more information on that anywhere, and I'm in the US, not the UK.
I could really use some help.
Thank you,
Adam
