temperature troubles

Hi,

I'm a bit new to this, I've had my corn Fluffy for about two weeks. She seams to be doing fine and eating alright but it's the temperature in her tank I was wondering about.

I live in the middle of Florida and I know corn snakes are native to this area. I don't care for the cold so the temp in the house stays around 70-80ish. I have one of those sticky thermometers and a nice digital one and they both say the tank, a 20 gal, is around 80. I was told you should have a cool and a warm side but it seams to stay warm without a extra heating.

Anyway my question is do I need to get extra heating or cool down a side to help her?

It sounds like you're probably okay. If she is eating and digesting without problems then your temps should be just fine. Ideally, you can offer a gradient (warm and cool side). I believe that there may be some members on here that live in Florida or Texas who keep their snakes pretty much at room/ambient temps year round, but I may be wrong.
Bottom line if you aren't having regurges and the temps aren't too low, which yours aren't, then you should be fine. :) I would just make sure that the temps don't get too far below 80 or it's possible you could start to see some regurges.

I'm in the north and as soon as the room temperature hits the high 70's I turn off all extra heat and turn it back on when temps drop into the mid 70's; usually around mid Sept.

A lot of people seem obsessed with correct temps.
My snakes are in an unheated loft where temps thruout the year vary between 55-90. The snakes eat all year round, shed and breed like clockwork, and in 5 years ive not had one death or any health problem.
My conclusion.... Healthy corns are vary hardy and adaptable, unless the temps are extreme and prolonged, dont worry.

tx for that info WAS1 :) u made my day, hehe
i think i've been worrying about my new snake tank temps too much..

Thanks all. I just wanted to make sure the new member of the family was going to be healthy and happy. She seams fine with the temp but is a little slugish and not wanting tyo eat today. Going to try tomarrow and hope she will eat.
