A bit of a vent but I thought I'd share. I have had so much trouble getting everything for my new corn. The reason? The pet stores in my area are both uneducated and/or just don't care for their animals. When I got my initial set up I read about the need if a thermostat. Every shop I went to (5) did not sell them and told me not to bother. Most said that a uth wasn't even needed :(. Many just told me to get a light...

After all this the shop I was getting my snake from took 3 weeks to get a heat pad from, I told them to forget it and I'd get my money back (they actually sold the one that was put aside for me) and they refused to return my money... Anyway yeah, a lot of drama but I got my snake and cage and I'll post pics soon :)

That only happens in Canada because Canada is to cold to own snakes and Canada does not have Pet Shops. Canada has animal retail shops were the people re tail the story of the animal.

At least you learn a lesson not to pay for anything up front unless you do it with a credit card so you can cancel the order if they like it or not.

That is horrible. Do you have a reciept for prepaying for that heat pad? If you do tell them you will turn them in to the Better Business Bureau and sue them if they do not refund your money. It is illegal for them to sell and then RESELL an item like that. Since they sold YOUR heatpad they owe you the money as they made a double sale. If they still refuse, sue them. You will win and they may even go out of business because of it. You can not sell one item to two people without one of them getting a refund.
 
The East coast of Canada is not any better. The pet stores here don't even know thermostats exist! I had to get one from the US and it still cost me less than if I got one from Ontario.

I have everything, but I don't want to bother getting into law over 50 dollars, I will just make sure to never buy from them again and will make sure everyone I know doesn't either. Bad service hits you in the long run, and does karma (hopefully).

Oh well, at least I got my snake home safe and sound.

Very true, although where I live, many snakes thrive:)

In any case, I should not have payed up front, live and learn I guess. It is to bad that many people lack honesty and integrity these days. At least it was only a heat mat. Im just so glad that this forum exists for people that live in areas like myself. Thank you all so much for spending your time to share your knowledge

Oh it's worth it, they need to learn a lesson and the threat of going to court alone will probably make them give you your money back

Maybe true, but I don't have the time to do it. I'd consider it if it were a lot more at stake. I doubt they will
