I would guess the normal is male and the amel female. The normal definately looks like he's practising mating behaviour there. Males mate by searching for the movement of the female's head and then sliding along their body. They look like they want to bite their neck to hold them still but they rarely do. They line up and then try and lift the female's tail by wrapping theirs around it.
 
Thanks for the info, that's prett much what I thought:)lol Housed in same vi, but I hear that is incorrect housing procedure, what a pity, i want to build a large "living" tank for them, but might have to rethink
 
If you're building your own why not make it 2-in-1? Or stack 2. There's a thread called "SHOW ME YOUR VIVS" with ideas.
