Thank you everyone that responded to my under the tank heating question. Last night my husband bought the stuff listed to make his own dimmer and it works perfectly. We are very excited and are gonig to get our new addition on saturday.

I know you should leave them alone for a while when you first get them so they can accustomed to their new home. How many days should we just let him chill in there before feeding or handling him/her?

"Rule of thumb" on this is 3 days.....I've gone as long as five days, some people will get the handling bug after two.....it's just a matter of learning to "read your snake".

regards,
jazz

I agree with jazzgeek on that.
I didn't see your first post so.....
when was he/she feed last ? If unknown, I think you should wait a few more days after that to feed. I feed mine at night, I thinks that helps 9pm and on. If you received it in a deli cup try to use that to feed in, cut paper towel round to fit bottom if you want and secure lid. With holes if you leave in long time.
But you can feed in anything but I think the smaller container will make them feel more secure and consentrate on feeding. Some don't like the lights, And some don't like being watched. All snakes are differenc . It all depends on them. If it doesn't eat wait a few more days. While your waiting read this form for more ideas in the search section and order Kathy Love new book. You'll find it here somewhere.

Sorry,
then wait another two days after feeding to handle. and read and read and read.

Welcome and good luck
