Do you have a list of your snakes? or pics? I'd like to see them.

I'm in the upper 300's with snakes (mostly corns). I'm actually working on an updated list. Here is a few links to some of the pics I've posted here.

Welcome to the forums...you will soon have a BUNCH of snakes...just trust me...

I haven't owned snakes in a couple of years...got a Cali King in July...
I now have seven in my house (0.1 Cali King, 1.1 Thayer's (Variable) King, 0.1 Pueblan Milk, 0.1 Anery het Charcoal amel (blizzard), 1.0 Amel Anery (snow) het Charcoal, 1.0 Normal het :dgrin: STUFF)

I also have 7 Cornsnakes and a pair of Dumeril's Boas that will be delivered whenever the weather gets warm again...

And whatever else I happen to purchase in the meantime...although I am picking up two new racks tomorrow and they are already full...going to have to order some more of those soon as well...

And the vicious circle continues on around again...

More racks means more snakes...which means more racks...which means more snakes...which...etc.

You know...honestly I don't feel comfortable taking care of more than one at the moment. I'm such a newbie at snakes that I need to learn how to take care of this one. Although, I do know what I want for my next choice...

My little baby hasn't left his hide in about 8 hrs. He moved around a whole lot when he first arrived(so my roommate said, i didn't get to see him). I'm assuming its the jet-lag/stress semi-cold trip.

I cheated a bit earlier and peeked under his half-coconut to see him, he didn't seem he noticed because his head was tucked under his body and he didn't move. I hope this is all normal. I thought about putting an article of my clothing in there for him to get used to my scent, any comments?

Daniel

Sounds totally normal to me. I didn't see much of my new hatchlings for the first couple of weeks. My aztec only came out late at night when I first got her. She comes out at all hours now, so I'm sure yours will too. I just put some fake plants in my amel and aztecs vivs and they both had to come out to check it out. It's funny how they notice new things.

He crept out a total of 4 times so far... Since I turned the day light off and now have the black light on he has come out. He only stays out for about a minute or two, but he just stays on the cool side, its like there's an invisible line between the tank that he doesn't cross. He climbed up on the big leaves of the tree that I have set up in there and curled up for a bit, but he just crawls right back into the hide on the cool side after a min or so. Its kind of funny, he pokes his head out of the hide and kind of watches the tv for a bit then he sees me and pulls his head back in. I understand why he's watching tv, it was a hilarious American Idol episode(the premier).

I'm trying not to get to close to the cage or make any sudden movements. He kind of retreats when I get too close to the cage. I got really close to the viv when he was on the branch and he kind of looked at me then slowly retreated back into the hide.

Soooo, he looks like he's just checkin the place out and doesn't know what to think of it so far.

Yeah, I felt that way when I got my first corn in August. The feeling lasted for about two weeks. :) Given the feeding intervals, necessary cleaning, and their relatively low metabolisms, I'll admit that my corns are the most low-maintenance animals I keep.

Hang around here, and the learning curve is minimized.

Q-Tip works for me too, btw....just don't stick him completely in your ear canal. :)

regards,
jazz
