5 Star Serpents

Ryan and Terri
So this thread is long overdue...and wouldn't ya know it, I don't even have all the photos I need to do it right!

Back in December I emailed Steve regarding purchasing some babies from him, when I first began the process I was thinking maybe 15 or so, the final number was close to 90! not all of them stayed here though but for the first few weeks when they were all here it was a huge change in routine!

Steve was amazing from the first contact and continues to be, total first class kinda guy! I say this because I've had a few people who were really hesitant, rude or just plain refused to sell to us because we are in Canada and I think it simply comes down to people not knowing that it really isn't difficult at all to ship to Canada now. I was reasonably certain that Steve would be good with it because he had exported to Canada the year previous, but still hesitant because it was through a company that specifically exports and we use a private broker so it was a bit different but I don't think it was much different for Steve than it would be for him to ship normally within the US. Anyways....he didn't skip a beat and we went through with it as hoped, even when the export date was pushed back a bit he never complained about the extra mouths to feed or clean up after and never pushed to speed it up. In case it isn't evident, I really really appreciate everything he did to make it work!

So without any more of my yammering here are MOST of the girls, I didn't take any pics of the ladies in shed so those will come later. And rather than saying "this is one of my favorites" on every photo, I'll just say now that they are ALL amazing to the point I can't chose one I prefer more than the others.

This little girl is unreal, I've had a few people recently ask me "where can I get a Reverse Okeetee", that's when I pull her out and jaws drop, it won't be for a few years but this girl's babies already have a waiting list of people who are after them!

Next is one that I had mentioned I wouldn't mind if one accidentally fell into my box when they were getting packed up, and it wasn't at first check of my snakes that I noticed her, I had "ordered" 4 ultramel anery motleys and I assumed that he had just been short a motley one so he replaced it with a regular ultramel anery, when I got counting at home though I was confused because there was an extra, sure enough it was her, but again I passed it off a few more days until I was talking with Steve on the phone and he said "so what do you think of that ultramel anery girl". Well Steve, I LOVE her! The photo is terrible, she's amazingly pink, I might go so far as to say she IS one of the top on my favorite list if I absolutely had to list them in order. Next years order already includes a boyfriend for her.

Next is a Lava ph amel female. There are very few Lava's in Canada as of right now so she will be used more likely for projects than to produce "just" Lava's.

Next is...ok not a Roylance baby, she was just doing her guard dog duties while I took photos of them...good guard dog hey! She just looked so cute though and the photo is smack in the middle of all the snake pics.

This next little girl is absolutely gorgeous IMO, I really enjoy the cinder morphs and she is no exception, normally I really dislike combining the anery morphs because it muddies things up a lot, but I can definitely see both separately in the Cinder Ghosts.

More to come....

The first one in this post is really exciting for us, one of our favorite morphs is in this little project girl. She's "just" an amel, but the red is so intense and saturated it's almost ridiculous, her boyfriend is the same way.
She is Amel het Kastanie, Hypo and Motley. Again there are very few Kastanie anything here in Canada, now with a few project ones we hope to change that in the next few years, and of course we do hope to bring up more multi gene combos as well.

I really like what the Ultramel gene does to pretty much everything, I really dislike white snakes so for me it's a great alternative to getting piles of white babies somewhere down the line. I also love lavenders, so I have been looking for a NICE Ultramel Lavender for a few years, and I found one! Again the photo does her no justice and she wasn't interested in the slightest in being a supermodel.

Amaretto has been on my "must have" list for a few years, so my Amaretto Motley girly is a perfect addition! Next year will see some stripes added I'm hoping!

Liberty is a really special girl, I love love love her as well, one of the few that has so far earned a name. When Steve asked if I was interested in purchasing a Lava Sunkissed female, I would have been stupid to say no, I think she carried the highest price tag of anything that we brought in, but worth every cent, not a purchase I regret making at all! Both of these genes are uncommon in Canada so an awesome addition. From all my searching her and the Amaretto Motley are the only ones of their kind in Canada at this point (I could be wrong but I can't find anyone that has any others). Thank you again Steve!

Still more coming...

The last ones for today...

Another surprise, I had brought in a bunch of normal Tessera's and found this little gem in the box, she decided she wanted to stay. Our 4 year old son named her "Stripey" and claimed her for himself. Now personally I'm not terribly fond of Tessera's but this girl stole my heart instantly! I love the super clean stripe that they create.

Next is a plasma, not terribly uncommon South of us here, but 2 of my favorite genes, and they aren't really all that common up here yet, so I wanted a pair for myself. And I'm very happy with that decision!

Another really special one, again a huge thanks to Steve for offering the pair up for me, another project that I'm very thrilled to have and work with. This little Kastanie lady is ph Amel Blood, she isn't nearly as brilliant colors as the male but still gorgeous IMO. I plan to add another snake or 2 to this project next year!

And last for today, but certainly not least, one of just a few in Canada, and quite frankly I wouldn't care if there were piles of them up here, they were on my "must have" list for a few years and I'm really excited to have some, is my Honey girl "Zafrina". I think Steve heard one of my passing comments about how much I love different head patterns and stored it in his subconscious for use later, this girl has a perfect heart on her head, she's absolutely adorable, and BIG!

Now I will TRY my best to get photos of the boys and missing girls up in the next week!

My favorite Lava Combine to date. I would import her.

Nice snakes, but I have to give ya kudos for that beautiful dog!

Wow, you really got some nice ones. I love the honey and the ghost cinder!
Thanks :) I might be bias but I have to agree, I love them both too, A LOT!

My favorite Lava Combine to date. I would import her.
She was definitely not getting passed up when I talked to Steve, I had my mind made up, I just had to clear it with the guy with the money ;)

What an awesome group of snakes must say I love that ultramel lavender though!
Thank you. Steve has some AMAZING ultramel lavenders!

Nice snakes, but I have to give ya kudos for that beautiful dog!
Thanks, she's a special girl, one of our babies forsure!

Wow that reverse okeetee is about as extreme as it can get!
She's unreal, Steve said the background color comes through more as they age but some don't change much, she's had a few sheds here with us and grown a lot and she just keeps all that white, I'm really hoping she decides to stay that way :) If you don't have a Roylance line ERO, I highly recommend them!!

A little update on a few, and some pics of a few of the boys who never made it up here before.

First up is the Sunkissed Lava girl, Liberty. She is one of my absolute favorites. Every time I look at her I can't believe that she's here, in my racks, I absolutely adore her!

Next is 2 photos of the Amaretto Motley female, she's almost completely patternless now and almost a solid "dirty" white. The male wasn't into having portraits done tonight so I'm hoping to get some of him soon to show the difference in the pair.

Now for one of my favorite morphs, I can't even begin to say how much I LOVE absolutely every Kastanie and Kastanie combo I have ever seen. This guy is Kastanie ph Amel Blood

Now for my favorite little demon, my Caramel Bloodred female, she's pure devil, she is super bitey...until you manage to get her in your hand at which point you would never believe it's the same snake! She's a real beauty though so I can accept her saucey-ness

One of Steve's stunning Strawberry Granite's, this is our male, he isn't much for photos so it was the best I could get.

Last one for the night is the Abbott Okeetee male, he too has a bit of an evil side, but he's gorgeous enough that he can get by on his good looks.

You have gorgeous snakes, I currently have a Baby High White Reverse Okeetee thas I love, I think he may have health issues and I am doing all I can to keep him happy.

I think once I have my Reverse Okeetee at least a year I think I want to buy a Fire Motley next.

I glad to see that your guard dog is hard at work, she beautiful as well.

Amazing!! I don't suppose you ever come to the Winnipeg Reptile Expo, do you? If not, I think I may just have to arrange a road trip to Alberta in the future. :)

nice collection. :)
Thanks :)

I'm jealous. That kastanie is really gorgeous, ugggh!! This addiction is too much :)
Thank you. I definitely feel the same about the Kastanie's, I'm HOPING, Steve might have some other Kastanie projects he might want to share with me again this year ;)

Very nice collection!!
Thank you!

Yeah I would have to say that kastanie is my fav morph. Very nice collection
Thanks!

Fire Motley is an excellent choice, Fire's are really something else to see, especially at maturity!

Thank you again, she's a pretty great beast, thankfully she gets to use more cuddling/being lazy tactics than she needs to use her guard dog ones LOL.

Thanks! We don't go out there at this point, we are looking into vending out of province in the future, probably not this coming year however, if we do go out of province in 2014 it will most likely be to the Fall BCRC show, but that will be completely dependent on how our season goes. We have put our adults into brumation for the first season and so we will see how many of the girls we throw too far off of their routine
We don't go to SK because, well, I'm a stickler for the rules and laws and legally to take reptiles into and out of SK (for permanent stays/leaves, not just driving through though) permits are required. Now this little legality is RARELY followed or enforced, but, I'm a huge advocate of being careful that we don't put our hobby in a negative light so I simply won't vend there. So, IF people want to do it by the book, if you are a SK breeder you should not be selling animals out of province and if you are a SK resident looking for a new pet, you can only purchase it from out of province if you get the proper permits.
All that long windedness to really say...that we are looking at other options and are open to hearing anything that someone might be able to share that would help us make the right choice for new options :)
However, if you want to make a trip out this way, the last weekend in August is the WCRE here in Red Deer, it's the second largest show in Canada and the guys put on a GREAT show! I can answer any questions you might have about it as the show promoters are both good friends of mine and being as they are in Calgary and I am here in RD then I help them out a lot with many local things up to and following the show. It brings some great vendors from across Canada and we usually even see an American or 2 vend, so totally worth the trip IMO :)

Any time I think I don't like a particular color in snakes, someone proves me wrong. That strawberry granite is a handsome boy!

Thank you! I think he's awfully pretty too, I'm not a HUGE fan of normal Granite's but I'm a sucker for a pink snake so...he wins.
