the saga continues........

Thanks for the link, Jenkva, no new pinks yet, and Lil pooping on (yes, that's what she thinks mice are for) a thawed pinky every 5 days............She has lost weight, but by no means looks skinny, in fact she looks a better shape than when I was syringing her, so maybe I was over-compensating to get her to grow. Damn petshop sold the mice, I'd asked them to go on hold but was a new employee who didn't know how (grrrr), so off to source new breeder trio today

You are very welcome for the link, at least I learned something at the same time I looked for it ;)

Well, at least you don't have to look for the poop, that makes it easier to spot clean.... :roflmao:
How big is she now?

I do not know from what age you can force feed them but wouldn't be worth a try just to put the head of the pinky in her mouth and see if the natural instinct will take over and if she will swallow?
It is just an idea, I am just brain-storming at this point :shrugs:

Oh great minds think alike................:grin01: I've got a pink thawing to try to stuff in after some delicate butchery, then have to go on my breeder hunt. Lil back down to 28g, so need better live production if that's all she'll take voluntarily

 cool, am glad you will have a go at that, let us know.

Good luck with feeding it to her and finding breeders.

Isn't there people around you that have breeders with offspring that are almost of breeding age that you could have?

 update.1 disgruntled snake with pink inside! didn't push the first portion far enough down, so Lil spat it out and HISSED! at me when I picked her up, used the inner part of an old biro and pushed it further down, success! Can now use blender for more normal culinary practices :grin01:
righto, off to petshop tour for breeders, Lil can digest this titbit for a few days, I'll cut up a peach next time as it'll be more appropriate size for the little madam

And I thought puree-ing mice was gruesome....next stage until the live pink production picks up, the chopped up peach fuzzy! Lil does not like this at all, I have to gently push the mouse portions far enough in that she can't perform her new trick, whipping her head around and spitting the dinner out! whole process took nearly an hour to get one measly fuzzy in, but I'm sure I'll get better at it

Well, they say you get better at things with experience... maybe Lil will get better at eating whole pieces ;)
Good luck

Lil was in the middle of the worst shed I've had here, all flakey, probably because I thought she wasn't due 'til next week and didn't notice her going blue (darn snow!)
Popped her in the 'snake-o-bath', her (non)feeding tub with a wet washcloth for an hour, and here is the result

She was bought as a green-blotched snow, but is still very pink

And it all came off? That is a great idea ;)

Yup, every single bit, even the tail tip, all complete. The first couple of time I followed advice to put her in with a cm or two of water, then ran her through damp cloth, she really didn't like it at all, so hence this adaptation, that seems to work ok

Lil a bit lively, so this is the best shot I could get, have pushed another peach into her, so she's 'resting' for a few days now

2 liters of fat pinks, so gave Lil a live one last night, she didn't seem impressed

After flickering her tongue at it for a while, she coiled up as far away as possible. I was overjoyed this morning to find this!

I snake with pink inside :dancer:

Great!

Let her get a rut, habit whatever you wanna call it. Anyway she wants eat. The load of babies I just sold to a local store refused their first meal. I suggested the way I fed them. After dark, lights off, don't mess with them for at least two hours. They all ate.

:dancer: Yay, for LIL! I'm so happy to hear that she ate on her own finally. Kind of reminds me of a kid who doesn't want to take his medicine, but then, realizes its not so bad and takes it anyway.
