The second clutch made it

I was really up set when my very first clutch of eggs didn't make it back in july. They were laid a bit premature and it was getting close to day 100 when the first baby hatched with yolk still attached. Three very small hatchlings made it out on there own only to die a few hours later. i manually piped the rest and found fully developed babies but were all D.I.E.

I was very happy to wake up yesterday morning too little noses blowing bubbles. Same female had double clutched with bigger healthier eggs the second time. My pairing was a unknown normal female to a snow male. In the first clutch there were 3 snows, 4 anerys, and 5 normals. This clutch so far has 2 amels, 1 anery, and 4 normals. I've noticed a slight difference in the normals and the anerys look very orange.

That Normal does look like its got some nice background color going on! It will be really interesting to see these guys after their first shed. I really love that shiny fresh hatched baby look, but the first shed is always very exciting!

FYI, the Anerys shouldn't have a trace of orange though.. If you have a hatchling that is really dark and monochromatic except for a little bit of orange showing through you may be in for a surprise with the first shed. It's most likley a Normal. That said, the baby in the last picture curled up in your hand on the left hand side looks like an Anery to me.

I'm really glad that the double clutch worked out for you. Sounds like you deserve something good to happen after your previous bummer. It's great that your previous plans for this summer were not thwarted after all!

Thanks for sharing these photos with us, and be sure to update us post shed!

Thank you so much :). I've been running around with a permagrin since yesterday. Twelve very spunky corns out of the eggs. Just one left in the egg still and too my surprise its a snow. I'm glowing to be twitching with excitement till he/she finally vacates the egg.

Funny that you should mention that since the second too last guy out of the eggs is definitively normal but man did i do a double take with him. The pictures don't do him justice. The amount of gray on him is stunning with just a tinny bit of brown here and there.
