Watch out I Bite
So a chick from work asks me to take care of her cornsnake while she is living at her mothers (her mom is scared to the snake) So of course I say yes. Man did I get some major surprises....

1. The chick brings a adult to me in a 10 gallon tank

2. Then she asks me if thats ok for her size ...umm NO U MORON

3. I notice the snake is FAT, and then she says "I give her 3 mice a week"

4. When feeding day comes up she informs me she puts the snake in a bag
yes a BAG, then puts the mouse in the bag to feed it.

5. Uses a way too high wattage of bulb

6. She gets a really badly broken up cage so the snake isn't in a 10g

I feel bad for this snake...its overfed, its fat, gets fed in a freakin bag and probley close to being cooked when the chick turns the light on. Sooo sad.
 
Well, that does seem irritating. It's good that you can vent here. Now you'll be all ready to politely educate your friend in a friendly and encouraging manner about what would be better for her pet when she returns. Hopefully, that approach will her some results.
 
Maybe you can shame her into doing the right thing.

If it were me, I would suggest that you speak to her and be empathetic, saying, " I know you have a lot going on right now but is it possible for you to get her normal viv here. I am just concerned because the TRANSPORT tank you brought her in is sooo small and it causes all kinds of health problems, not being able to move around.

One of two things will probably happen, she will be embarrassed and go buy a larger one and deliver it or she will say well he has been fine in that and it isn't a transport tank it's her home. To which you could reply with all the information you can find in here on improper housing size and what problems it causes snakes.

Just an idea, sometimes you can get people to do the right thing without having to really address it outright and you can avoid all that fighting. Either way, if you are going to keep her, you will have to see her suffer while you care for her or end up having to dish out for the supplies needed to give her the home she deserves, or get the owner to.

I didn't fight with her i just told her that the snake needs a better tank, and she doesnt need to feed so much....she's a sweet girl so it's not like i told her she was a moron, i just laughed and told her id take care of the snake no problem, but that adjusts would be made for the well being of the snake =)

Good, glad you didn't have to fight with her and more importantly I am glad that you ended up with her snake to care for because it seems that little ssssssssssweet heart needs some TLC. Just keep in mind she may become so spoiled she doesn't want to go back home. lol
 
Yeah, I wasn't planning on fighting with her, I just said it calmly and she took it all in. Ruby is a good snake, she just needs to be healthy again. Poor Girl.
