thermostat question about multiple heat pads

ok say I have 3 snakes in different tubs with three different heat mats. I wanna use the hydrofarm t-stat. I know you can plug it into a power strip for it to operate more then one heat pad...well atleast thats what i read on here. So how does it regulate the heat of all the pads if there is only one t-stat probe?

Just curious cuz I plan on getting a couple snakes and wanna have a safe and reliable heat source for them. Thanks!

As long as the heat pads are the same brand and wattage, they should all run around the same temperature, so if one heat pad is regulated to shut off at 85 degrees, then they all will do so. There may be a degree or two of difference, but it will be fine as long as they are the same brand, size, and wattage. It would not work if you were to use an Ultratherm, and a Zoomed, and flexwatt.

oh one more question how would i attach the heat pad to the bottom of the tub without actually using the sticky part of the pad...so I can reuse the pad for future projects.

If you are just going to have the viv on a table, you can just lay it under the tank. I don't stick any of my heat pads on my cages either haha. My cages have a little slot for heat pads though. I think there is some sort of aluminum tape that you can use though. Some people use duct tape, but it requires a bit more maintenance, since after a while of it being warm it falls off and can create a fire hazard (though that's unlikely if regulated with a thermostat).

the heat will regulate through the part that you would peel off on your heat pad? I would just leave that part on correct?

Yeah, sorry for the late reply. It would be just fine. I leave that on all my heat pads, sometimes it slides off over time though.

what i do with mine is stick the pad on upside down so the peel off part faces away from the tank. and i use duct tape or tuct tape to stick it on.

the only thing you have to watch for if you only have one temperature probe going is keeping an eye on the other temps as well. if the pad the probe is on is still working properly you wont notice if one of the other two shorts out and overheats or just stops working altogether (i had one recently that quit for no reason)

yeah..I'll use thermometer probes to make sure the temps are correct. Hey thanks fo rthe info you guys made this a great experience for me thanks!
