This is where I live!

I had a heck of a time picking pictures to post here. I realized that I only have a few that I've taken, so I'll post a few of those and then a few from Ed Sentner's Flickr gallery, since he does a better job capturing the place than I could ever hope to.

The hubby and I almost decided to get married on this field, but opted not to at the last minute.

One of my favorite places to wander trails, unfortunately taken when there's not much green. The place is stunning in the spring.

Also, this isn't my video, but it's a ride I used to take as frequently as I could on my motorcycle. It's beautiful, and the air just smells incredible.

Especially when you reach the higher parts of the trail and can look out on the valley...

Again, the pictures in this post were taken by Ed Sentner, not me!!

We're moving to Vegas soon, and it kills me. I've been so down since I found out. I can't imagine being somewhere where everything just looks so....dead. I've vacationed in the desert before, and found that being surrounded by brown shrubbery and dead plants depresses me. I dread leaving these redwoods behind.

Ah, I like your pictures better, because they are the ones with more personal feeling! What is the building in the first photo?

It's actually a surfing museum inside the lighthouse! It's neat, there's bits on the history of surfing, famous surfers, etc. I'll have to see if I can take pictures inside next time I'm there.

That'll be great! I have planned a little trip to Rochester (about an hour away from me) because there's lots of stuff to see, including a cathedral, a castle, 14th and 18th century houses and a quirky little summerhouse in the Dickens museum :) I could just find on-line photos but I think I'll have more fun trying to get some decent photos myself!

What are you talking about, the desert is filled with LIFE! The mojave is absolutely beautiful, stunning landscape, incredible views and a diverse population of animals and plants. I love the outskirts of Las Vegas (can't say the same about the city :nope:), there is so much to do as well- hiking, rock climbing, bouldering, even the sand feels like silk!

I've turned into a bit of a desert nut, just open your eyes and you'll see how amazing they can be!
