This will sound a bit wierd......

OK this will sound a little weird but I want to know. Can I see your snakes well bottom half and see if the females have about the same thing all the time. And the Same would go for the males. So if you can get this exotic shot for me and have if it's a male or female, this'll help me out a lot.

I have read that looking at the tails is an innaccurate way to determine sex of the snakes (meaning that it doesn't work as well as other methods and is not reliable).

If you want to sex your snake, find an experienced person (vet, breeder) to either pop or probe your snake. Popping can only be done if the snake is very young, but probing can be done at any age.

I am aware that probing is a much more accurate way of finding the sex of a snake. I just want to see if there about the same for all.

It's not that these photos are too difficult to take, it's that they'd be a waste of time to take the trouble to post. The visual method isn't very reliable until the snake is at least two feet long, and even then, it is prone to error. Generally, females' tails taper quickly after the vent-- no more than a scale or two. Males usually have longer tails that remain the width at the vent for at least six or seven scales past the vent.

Why don't YOU post some photos of your snake's vent and tail (underside), and we'll take our best guesses based on those. ;)

If you have Kathy Loves Corn Snake Manual, in there you will see photo's of the tail side of 4 snakes comparing males to females.

If you don't have this book, you should buy it  It's an excellent resource for all aspects of the Corn hobby.

1. That is a good idea of me posting a picture of it but my camera is bad, I'll try though.
2. I do have her book and the picture isn't that clear.
3. But that doesn't matter I found a local vet that does snakes.

The vet said my snake is too young to determine the sex, he said it has to be 1 year old. Anyone know why he would say this? Does he have a different method of finding the sex? I know people find out like right when they're born. (I know I'm stretching the truth but you get it)

Thanks

They do not have to be a year old. Here are sexing videos from Kathy Loves site. Please use caution using these techniques though, and have someone with experiance do it for you. But this gives you an idea.
.
Probing (WMV)
Popping (WMV)

Ryan is correct. Probing can be done at any age, and popping can actually only be done when they're young, so that contradicts the "must be older" theory.

Sounds to me like you found a vet that doesn't really know snakes but will try to "wing" it to get your business. I think I'd look for another vet.
