throw up!

sick'em felix
she fed the fifth and just now threw up what was left of the pinky!!!

7 days later seems kinda weird but the lady said at the pet store that the pinky was too bigg to pass after felix's (corn snake) stomache. so i got a night light bulb to raise the temp from 60-70 to 70-80 at night. what should i do about the pinky?

so he regurged? if so. don't feed him for 10 days and try feeding him again later with an appropriate sized pink. some one more experienced will deffinatly help you.

I would wait also before trying to feed again. What are daytime temps and what about cage setup? And the pinky if your talking about the regurged one remove it and throw far far away :)

yeah i guess the pinky was too big. i just hope she will try to eat again. its a 10 gallon tank but im switching to 20 gallon. the temp is about 75-80 and i have one gauge thats in the middle of the hot and cold side.

You should definitely have a warm spot that's in the low 80s. As snakes get older they seem to be able to digest in slightly lower temps (at least mine can), but young ones need the warmer temps. Without seeing the snake and the pinky ahead of time it's tough to say whether the pinky was just too big or if it was a temperature problem or both. I would work on the temps to keep them in a good range. As long as you recognize the problem and take steps to correct it things should be okay.

Wait 7-10 days before feeding again and offer something much smaller. Try just a f/t pinky head the first time. If you go with something too big right away you could easily get another regurge.

EDIT: If you haven't already, I would invest in a cheap ($8) indoor/outdoor digital thermometer to monitor temps. It will have a probe that you can place on the warm side to measure the temps accurately. You other thermometer can go to the cold side to give you a general idea of what the temps are over there.

yeah ill get another thermometer. you can see the snake in my other post about the poop. she seems much more mobile and happy that she got the thing out her body.

Stop listening to the lady at the pet store. She doesn't know what she's talking about. I doubt the pinky was too big. I'm no expert but I would think the pinky would be mush by the time it was heading into the instestines. At that point, it doesn't matter what size the mouse was.

In order to make the pinky turn to mush, the snake needs temps well above 70 degrees (84 is more like it). If the snake doesn't have the proper temperatures, the mouse starts to rot and the snake pukes.

Do what the care instructions on this website say and you should be fine.

at night it went down to 60. that was too low for her but i didnt want the bright light on. so i bought a blue light and now it stays at 80 in the morning and after noon and about 70-80 at night

Get an Under tank heater and put it on one side to give you the 82-84 degree temp that you need. It should be pretty stable even at night. Low temps will definitely cause a regurge, although having a regurge after a week seems a little strange. Usually a regurge will occur within 3 days. Are you sure it's not just what was left of a large pinky that didn't get fully digested and was deficated? I'm not convinced after this length of time that this is a regurge.

it was like an oval shape.it was hard and didnt really smell and kindy pink in color. she seems very active now she is sleeping and outside her house more now that its out of her body.

Regurges smell ALOT! Most likely it was a fairly large pinky and all of it was not digested before it was passed thru. I would not treat this as a regurge. I would however get the warm side tank temps up before you end up with one.

I can't help but feel like the advice is going in one ear and out the other. Even at night there should be an area where the temps are in or near the low 80s, NOT just during the day. The snake doesn't just digest meals during the daytime and not at night. There needs to be a warm AND cool side at night. The best way to achieve this is how MegF. suggested with a UTH.

And of course your snake is moving around now that she has the pinky out of her body. She would be acting the same way if she had digested perfectly and gotten that thing out of her body via the "other end". Being active after a regurge isn't necessarily a good sign (not a bad sign though) and definitely not a sign of good health.

It's not my intention to be mean. Everyone is trying to offer advice to make sure things are corrected and she doesn't have another regurge, but each time you respond you keep saying that temps are between 70-75 at night, which more than likely just won't cut it.

well i wasnt even sure that she regurged it. it was oval, kinda pink, didnt stink and it was hard.
on the tank there is a cold and warm side. when i talk about the temps its on the warm side. im sorry i didnt make my self clear. i bought a blue light last night to keep the tank warmer and it wouldnt bother me at night. so last night the temp on the warm side was 80 for the first time..
