Im hoping to add some living flowers to my snake enclosures, is this 1) possible? 2) safe?

I'm pretty sure they wont try and eat the flowers, I would just like to yet again improve the natural feel to there enclosures..

What type of common UK flower would you say could live in a plantpot planted in aspen and sprayed daily?

Whenever I put something new in my snakes viv she flattens it. I don't know if a flower will survive. How about ivy?
Right now I'm trying to decide how to put a small plant in mine. She always has to climb over things to check them out, we have to "fluff" the fake plants sometimes.

I put certain succulants in the the viv, once. I traded out the soil that the plants came in for eco earth soil... This helped reduce the possibility of parasites.

Only problem is, they like to burrow, so they borrow in the soil of the plant. So be aware of that as well.

I have always wanted to put real plans in my viv just im not sure what plants. She loves to climb but if it helps i was thinking of a banzi tree, after i seen a pic on this site with one in. I would have to grow it first then place it in.

There are very few UK species that would survive - unless you've got full spectrum UVB lighting in your snakes' enclosures.

You're best looking at species of houseplant that do well in "low light".

Pothos, maybe some of the bromeliads...

Keep in mind most bonsais are pines. Also growing them takes about a year to get a good starter going. (I've currently growing one) Granted it is cheaper than buying one already grown, but a long process none the less. Mine is 3 months and no trunk yet, only a 4-5 inch tall sprout. Also getting bonsai seeds to germinate can be frustrating. soaking, chilling, keeping the soil moist all the time. Its def something you needs patience for.

ficus plants make easy bonsais and are relatively inexpensinve.

Be nice to hear what you decide.
