Too many mice. Sexing correctly?

I use a pelleted pine bedding called equine fresh.
It's been treated to remove the bad stuff in pine, but still controls odors better than anything else I've tried. It's roughly $4.00 a 40 lb. bag anywhere horse stuff is sold. It's super dusty, though, so I keep the rodents in a 11x14 room, and have HEPA filters running, it collects the dust, and cuts waaaaaaaaaayyyyy down on the stink. Also, putting an air freshener refill inside the air cleaner where the air moves through really helps out on the nasties. If you use pelleted bedding like what I'm using or use woodstove pellets, you have to control the dust or it will be everywhere. Seriously.
If you are patient, you can find good HEPA filters on ebay for less then $50.
Old round honeywells work great, and as long as you vacuum the pre-filters once a week, and change pre-filters every few months the actual HEPA filter lasts a long, long time. Keep the pre-filters really tight around the filter, and seal it on with tape, so nothing gets to the filter without getting pre-filtered.
I'm actually in process of making an air scrubber. They are usually waaaayyyy better than an air freshener solution to control odor. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.
