Too many Snakes?!

Howdy Folks!
For those with more than a couple of snakes, I was just wondering....
At what point did you wake up and think "OMG, I have too many snakes!" :crazy02:
Come on, be honest!

too many snakes

I think too many snakes would be the number that takes your hobby from being an enjoyable way to pass the time to something you dread to do.
If you have so many you don't look forward to feeding them or you dread the every day tasks such as cleaning the habitats or cleaning and filling water bowls then you probably have too many.
If it ceases to be enjoyable you have crossed that line.
For some people that number could be two.
For others it could be two hundred.
For most of us it is somewhere in between.

Or when you no longer have time to post on online forums.... :grin01:
Actually a breeder told me, "Never get more than you can care for, confident that they are getting the care they deserve." Personally I only have a few more to cross off my list then I'll move on to breeding plans, as there will be hatchlings I'll want to keep. I wouldn't want to get so many that I couldn't enjoy breeding them, caring for the hatchlings, and working on my projects, which I believe will be the best part of this hobby.

Honestly? I'm still buying them here and there, so I guess I haven't hit that point yet. I've got a pair of Kisatchies coming from Terri Manning on Wednesday; I have a pair of '06 Lava Okeetees on reserve from Joe Pierce; I have an '06 Upper Keys female coming from Don Soderberg; and there are one or two '06 MBKs reserved from Carol Huddleston. That will conclude my major collection-building efforts, and put me at about 50 snakes. I'm cool with that. It's the number of projected holdbacks from future breedings that have me a little scared. :eek1: I've always resisted thinking about the possiblity that I might have to lose some snakes that don't fit into the 'program', but I imagine that it will happen (hear that, ugly stepsister ghosts? :grin01: ).

Right now i want a LOT!!!!! But my parents are holding me down so im guessing 7-8 is my limit(parents limit) .MY limit is never ending!

We have forty some now... And it is likely not to get any better.. The care is still there, but it is very time consuming.. When I eventually get to breeding serious, I am honestly going to need a helper, hopefully by then I will be home and can include my Sis with helping me..

I haven't reached the limit yet, but I'll probably add to my chondro collection rather than corn collection in the future. The pythons are alot easier to care for as far as feeding and cleaning than the corns. It takes me 2 minutes to feed the chondros and 1 hr. to feed the corns.

I'm at 65, but I'm looking to part with some that won't be used in breeding. I'm trying to focus on corns much more. I would like to have a main collection from which I can breed two or three a year and produce some nice morphs to sell. I do have days when I think, do I have to feed them today or can it wait til tomorrow?

i have four at the moment. As soon as i buy some more vivs then i'll be making plans to get some more. i'll also be keeping hatchlings,so i should end up with about fifteen (for my first project, anyway! :grin01: ). and i know that i'll probably get more on the way! :sidestep:
