Transporting snakes?

Hi everyone.
I'm soon going to leaving my town for the summer, and I'm supposed to be taking my snakes with me. I was wondering, would it be best to keep them in their tanks and seat belt them in, or should I do something else? I don't want to stress them anymore then I need to, and I certainly don't want any harm to come to them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
 
Here's what I do to transport adults. Put each one in a pillowcase and knot it closed (being careful not to trap tails or heads!) Put each pillowcase inside a smaller, escape-proof plastic tank or tub. Wrap the pillowcases around with old towels inside the tubs. I aim to give them the sensation that they're safely burrowed into somewhere, whilst minimising the amount that they're jolted around. The towels also help insulate them from heat changes.

In the summer, your main problem is making sure that they don't overheat. I'd keep them away from direct sunlight as far as possible, maybe tucking the travelling tanks into the footwells of the rear seats.
 
I'd do the same thing if temps were acceptable. Do not EVER leave snakes in the car unattended when there is a chance the car will get hot. Just put the pillowcases in your purse and bring them into the restaurant.

If it is going to be hot, I pack the snakes as if I was shipping them. Snake bag/pillowcase, in an insulated shipping box surrounded with peanuts, with big ice packs. The snakes do not sit directly on the ice packs. I put a probed thermometer right on the snake bag to monitor the temp, with the actual thermometer outside the box. In your case you could use a cooler.

I would also put crumpled paper towels in the pillowcases with the snakes.
