I have a snow corn, and he's about a foot long, and takes well to being hand held and walked around the house with me and what not. But im moving, and im not sure how transporting will work. There will be a two-four hour car ride, without his heating pad and what not. So what should I do? I was going to put him in a smaller cage, lined with cloth and his bedding and his hide and just hold him in my lap. And set up his home when we get there, the first thing. Is this proper? Or should I do something else.
 
Yea, that should work. He will be fine without his heating pad, and anyways he will be in a warm car. I would make sure he is in a small nice cage with air holes and bedding, (maybe just paper towels). Good luck.

I haven't travel with snakes yet so take it for what it's worth.
You sound like your on the right track, A smaller cage, vented and a thermometer too, I would think. To make should it doesn't get to hot in the cage. If the snake is travel with you in the car the temperature issue should be OK. Just make sure the cage doesn't get bang around.
Basically, just use common sense.
 
I took my cornsnakes from California to South Carolina when I moved. I placed them all in rubbermaid tubs that were just large enough for them to move a bit, placed a lot of aspen in there and put a lot of moving blankets to insulate. My husband carried some in the cab of his truck and I carried some in mine. It took 5 days to go across the country, and about 4 more until I could unpack all the snake stuff and get it set up. They did just fine. I provided water each night, and took out the water bowls to travel. A short trip like yours will be no problem.
 
Thanks guys. I was a bit worried that I would do something horribly wrong and screw him up for good. I guess thats what I get for being a worried 'mom.' Ill take everything to heart, and use my extra thermomater as well. Thanks again!
 
I'm not a snake expert, but something tells me that the shipping conditions ( from whomever breeded them, to the pet store ) probably is not as luxurious. I think your littles ones should be fine :cheers:
