I have two baby Corns, a snow and a creamsicle... My creamsicle is shedding, half of her body is shed, the other half is retaining old skin. how do I help her get it off?
One thing that can help now is putting her into a smaller box, (not escapable!) with a couple wet (room temp) towels. She will slither through these and it should come off within 30 minutes.
Next time before they shed, push the water bowl directly under or over your heat source to raise the humidity. Spraying also works but I don't have to when I move the water dish.
Another tip is to regularly give the snake baths in cool (not cold) water for about five minutes. My first snake had real problems shedding and it always used to come off in bits even though I gave him damp towels to crawl through and sprayed the viv. I started giving him baths every week (a bit more often when shedding time came around) and he was fine- It all came of in one piece. If you don't want to bath your snake every week, you don't have to- Just do it a couple of times while it's in 'shedding mode'.
My favorite method for snakes with bad sheds is to get a pillowcase or other soft fabric bag, Moisten it with warm water and put the snake in there for 15 minutes or so. The shed tends to "stick" to the moist batg and comes off as the corn/snake moves around in there.
