Trying to find some wild corn and rat snakes in SW Florida.

Earlier today I happened to find a dead juvenile corn snake. Although it was dead, I was surprised by its beauty. It appeared to be almost a Miami in color and saddle shape. I’m very interested in seeing if I have what could be a possible corn snake variant in my area. If there is one baby, there’s probably quite a few. I’m also looking to pickup a new snake and I would rather have a wild one, whether it be a corn or a rat snake. I’ve always had a bit of trouble catching them in my area though. Although I have seen a few corns, rats, scarlet kings and water snakes over the years, I only tend to find racers with any frequency.

I live in a heavily wooded area comprised mostly of palm and oak trees. There are also a large amount of pepper plants and a few pines. Everything on the side of the road is pretty well covered in wild grapes and thorny vines. I’ve looked in all the normal areas but I’m not having any luck. I was wondering if you guys would have any suggestions.

The rodent population appears to be very low if it even exists. This is probably because there are very few people in my area. However, there is a very large lizard population.
