I have not been able to get out & do as much field herping as I would've liked this summer, so I was glad to tag along when my friend Mike called me yesterday and asked if I wanted to tag along with him and hunt for some turtles....we had a good time but did not find much. I did learn a few things though....
1. Catching turtles is HARD (Mike makes it look easy though).
2. I suck at walking in mud.
3. Cameras are best left on dry land.
Onto the pics....
I happened across this Box Turtle crossing the road as I got close to Mike's house, so I stopped and we relocated it to a better spot with less cars.
Mike caught these 2 young Red Ear Sliders while I was busy falling down in the mud and getting stuck often....how he saw them buried in the mud I'll never know!
Mike spotted this adult female Musk Turtle on the bank of a creek, presumably looking for a place to lay eggs...
Lastly, here is a landscape shot....
