two questions about normal/classics

I am looking for a nice clean normal, high contrast, low orange but not a miami phase. Its hard to describe but I know I dont want a washed out orange looking cornsnake.
What do I look for in a baby?

I recently purchased this guy on a whim at a petstore. I liked the look of the saddles(although dont like the aberrant pattern) but Im worried the background color may turn out super orange.

Do you think he will wash out with too much orange? Or stay defined?

Looks like either an oketee or extremee oketee or extreme borders (I can never remember which one) and I do not think he will wash out I suspect your snake will become even more intense.... usually colors go stronger not lessen unless it's like my lavender he was brownish and is now turning pink and purple (which was a surprise, I thought he was going to be little gloomy lavender but no)...

I think you will get something like this:

I might be off and I think it will be in ball park though... its not easy judging by the pictures... from what I see on yours though I suspect it's colors will be intense..

Yours looks pretty bright already. I suspect his oranges will be fairly bright. He has great borders, very Okeetee-ish looking.

If you're really picky about what colors you're looking for in an adult corn, it would probably be easiest to get an adult or a sub-adult. Babies can change color so much so it isn't always easy to tell what they will look like as an adult. However, I do think your baby will be a very pretty adult!

I am just tired of paying such high shipping cost for every snake I order online. It can really add up at 50 dollars a pop.

What I meant to say and accidentally hit post was I wanted to start looking around locally for babies at petstores that might be what I want.

Funny. I held off getting a corn for a very long time. It was an extreme Okeetee like yours that finally broke my resistance. I love the Okeetees and extremes and Miami phase and Alabamas. You're looking for a normal, but a very well defined normal. You can probably tell at a young age if the borders will be well defined but the colors generally brighten as they grow. If I wanted something that specific I would be looking at buying an adult. Unless you can see that both parents are exactly what you want and not HET for anything.
