Two UTH on one thermostat... am I missing something?

I have a ZooMed Reptitemp thermostat which is currently controlling the UTH of my hatchling's viv, aided by a digital thermometer. I am going to be getting another corn snake soon, and thought, great! My thermostat has two plugs, so I can put the new viv beside the other and control both UTH with the one thermostat. Then I got thinking... although my thermostat has two plugs, it only has one probe! How am I to trust it to properly switch on and off the second UTH? I will of course be putting another digital thermometer in the second viv to monitor temps, but I'm wondering, if I have two of the same UTH in the same room with the same ambient temp, as long as I monitor the second one with a thermometer, is it reasonable to assume the thermostat will keep them at roughly the same temperature? The bedding, hides etc. would be about the same in each viv. I'm somewhat confused why a thermostat would come with two outlets but only one probe. Would it be easier to just buy another thermostat? Any advice?

You shouldn't have a problem as long as your heating devices are the same wattage, and cage size is similar. Your thermostat should be putting equal power to each plug.

I have one thermostat controlling the radiant heat panels in four of my chondro cages. Temps are within a few tenths of a degree in all the cages. Of course, the panels are the same wattage, and cages are identical in size.

I usually run four heating devices per thermostat, and temps are pretty much identical in all the cages.

I hope this makes sense!

Ok, I think I understand, as long as the vivs and UTH are the same (they are), and contributiong factors the same ie: bedding used, the thermostat would give each UTH the same amount of power and therefor keep them at relatively the same temp. Right? Thanks for the reply :)

it's a slight risk, but corns are pretty hardy. if you are ever worried just try taking the temp of the second cage to compare the two. i use a complete set-up for each, though as @insomniac mentioned, it may be excessive.

If you stack the vivs you'll see a slight difference in temps. Actually, side by side, there will still be a little difference. But keep everything the same as much as possible, especially the size and brand of the UTH.

I don't mean to highjack this post, but I'm just curious... if the thermostat only has one plug, could I put a small double-plug extension on that to add more heat mats? Or would that be too risky?

Check the maximum wattage for your thermostat (should be in the owner's manual). You should be okay if your heating devices don't exceed the manufacturer's recommended wattage.
