Hello everybody,

I am looking for scientific articles documenting results of DOPA test done specifically on cornsnakes.

Also, if anybody has ANY scientific documentation comfirming the presence of phaeomelanins in any snake species, references would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Jean F Dery

I've just done a search regarding your question and the only place i found any real info was icb.oxfordjournals.org. You have to pay for the priviledge of reading the material, though. I hope this helps! :)

PS. I'll look to see if i can find out more.

i found some info on dopa test results, only it's more to do with gopher snakes. If you go to links.jstor.org you will find the results. You'll need o sign up,but i don't think it costs anything.

A good person to contact is Connie Hurley at CCCorns. I know she is doing some testing in her spare time on the exact mechanisms involved in the corn morphs. She may have some good info for you, or know where to get them.

Thank you snake5007, do you have a title for the article on Integrative and Comparative Biology?

As far as the other one goes, I already have it and it's very interesting but I am really looking for guttata specific articles for that particular subject. Still, thank you very much for looking into that!

Thank you Susan, I'll do that.

JF

I've looked around quite a bit but there isn't really that much on corn snakes. I'll try and find that title for you, though. :)

It's called "the journal of heredity". The title is "colour mutations in the corn snake ( E.Guttata Guttata) :review and additional..." And then the title trails off. You need a subscription to read it. I hope you find what your looking for. :)

I also have that article and yes it does mention that the DOPA test was done on an albino cornsnake resulting T-. However, it's based on unpublished data, but at least it's mentioned, and it's data from the same author so I guess he trusts it ;-) Thanks for looking it up!
