can I please have some opinions on these hatchlings a friend has hatched out? they are from a petshop normal x anery pairing, both with unknown hets, and most likely to be siblings.

In the clutch, there are normals, anerys and these:

It was first thought they were amel, but they have a grey outline to the saddles. The next thought was maybe hypo, but they have red eyes.
The only explanation we can now come up with is either Ultra or Ultramel.

This hatchling was also in the same clutch, first thought to be a ghost, but it looks to me like it has Ultramel Anery eyes...

what do y'all reckon?

Hi!
Very interesting clutch!

First hand I would guess Hypo - there are forms of Hypo that have very reduced black pigment, that could be a reason for the reddish eyes.

Over here I also saw so called "ruby-eyed" Ghosts that looks similar to this one and were not connected to the Ultra-gene...
Lavender could also bring ruby eyes.

But in fact I never saw an Ultra-Hatchling in real life or bred one, so I'm sure here are people in the forum who can give their opinion especially to the hypo-question :)

Just by the odds it's not very likely to have Ultras in a petshop, but who nows?

its an amazing fluke! i'm going to start going to tht shop maybe some luck will rub off onto me! :)

the current theory is that they are 'byproducts' of someones ultramel project which have either gone straight to the shop, or through a wholesaler because they aren't the visual jackpot.

Wow. I certainly don't know morphs too well yet, but I would have to guess that they are something related to the morph called beautiful. What lookers; and what luck!! I hope I end up with something surprising with my eggs. Very cool.

Fluke? Naw.. Probably imported from some one over here.. I would think the normal is het for amel and anery.. Can you get a picture of the anery and normal.. The off spring certainly look ultramel to me..

Regards... Tim of T and J

I was just wishing there was "how to identify hatchlings" book out there that I can get a hold of.... lol I am new at this so I can't help you, but thank you for the photos/images and guesses... I suppose that is how I will get to learn until I get that book... :)

Cheers,
Rebecca

Those sure look like ultramels/Ultras to me! I have one and she looks VERY similar to those.

I have only seen pics of Anery Ultramels but from what I have seen, that one sure looks like one too!

thank you everybody :) :)

Tim... I'll see if I can get some pics of the parents for you :)

Thank you, Nanci, for the website link.. :)
