Bloodred laid a second clutch her first year Breeding.

congrats Tim, I hope there all wonderful snakes. Make sure to send pictures when they hatch.

WOW thats like better then a birthday present! lol got to appreciate nature at its best... Congrats!!!

Stupid question...

Do they double clutch WITHOUT breeding again? And how long after the first clutch is the second clutch usually laid?

They sometimes double clutch without a second breeding but this is rare. That's not the case here, the snake was ovulating so I put a male in with her, better to have good eggs than a pile of slugs which is usually the case if a male is not introduced. It has been 7 weeks since she laid her first clutch.

First off let me say that I don't normally try to double clutch my snakes. But some snakes are going to do it whether you want them to or not. As for ovulating you can sometimes feel the undeveloped eggs by running your fingers down the belly of the snake. It's easiest if you let the snake crawl through your hands. This is another one of those things that are easier if someone experienced helps you. IMHO

By the way, is that 7 weeks in between actually laying her first clutch and her second clutch...or 7 weeks between her first clutch and breeding again? Just curious...

mango ice cream and doritoes

How do you know if she is ovulating?

if she's craving choclate covered pinkies and mountain dew, and has been watching the "princess bride" for three days:)

OR, if she bites your head off for absolutely NO reason other than you're a man and in the way.
