UTH and Thermostats

I looked through about 16 pages here in the forums before I got tired of looking (possibly more I dont remember .. too many numbers).

Anyway, I couldnt find anything online via an under tank heater that comes WITH a thermostat.
You HAVE to buy the thermostat separate. Why?
Is there nobody that sells under tank heaters WITH thermostats?
Cmon wouldnt it be better that way?

Urgh.

If anyone knows where I can buy an under tank heater WITH a thermostat, it would be most appreciated.
Plus im trying to stay under $50 if thats a help at all (although I can go over if i need to, just trying to stay under that amount).

Thanks.

Well, I guess the reasoning is if the stat is separate, you can use it with any heating device. I just changed out the stat on a rack last night. Also, stats come in a huge price range. You can get one as cheap or as expensive as you want. Your cheapest reliable option is going to be the Alife thermostat from The Bean Farm, about $30. Then if you look on eBay for the UTH you want, that ought to bring you in right around $50.

There is a thing called Habistat Mat in Europe. I don't know if they are available in the US, I don't think so, or how much they cost, or how reliable they are.

I use the Habistat MatStats. I've had two fail in twenty years. Not a bad score!

What I did is buy a UTH from petco, I believe it was about $20, then I built a thermostat. Acually its a rheostat but works just as good in my opinion. Another member told me about the thread, so I tryed it out and it works great! Under $10 to biuld one, and I acually had all the things laying around here so I didn't spend anything. :) http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19168
