UTH Placement Question

Hi, I am going to purchase my first corn snake in the very near future, and I have a question about how to place the Under Tank Heater (Zoo Med)
onto the aquarium. I am using a 10 gallon aquarium, and I just can't figure out how to place the UTH. The instructions say to peel off the backing, but I've heard on here that they are hard to remove after that. Any advice? Oh, and before people ask, I am using the Repti Temp 500R Thermostat.

I dont have mine stuck on, Just let it sit under the tank. The weight of the tank keeps it in place anyway.

My heater doesnt have a 'black' side really.. both sides look pretty much the same...

I would be inclined to say whichever side is designed to 'stick' to the tank is the side that should be facing up though. :)

I've heard other members say they stick the mat to a ceramic tile or piece of slate, before placing it under the tank, as it's easier to remove the tile for cleaning and it helps to distribute the heat.

We don't have the sticky ones over here in the UK though, so it might be better to wait for a member from the US to post the best method.

Best wishes,

I am one who stuck UTH's to a piece of glass or tile. Mostly because it's easier to just leave the heat mats where they are if I change tanks around or get a larger sized tank. It's also easier to move the tank for cleaning if I can just pick it up without having to unplug, get the plug out of the area behind the tanks etc. The ones I'm using now go in the enclosure though and have no sticky side at all.

THe UTH I am getting doesn't restick if you pull it off. Does anybody know if there is anywhere you can get more sticky stuff to restick it with?

My snake came to us with a glass viv with a stick-on UTH stuck on the bottom. I peeled it off for my new viv and "restuck" it along with a new one. Both heaters stuck the same. My "new" viv is plywood so I cut out the bottom where I wanted heat and attached a piece of lexan, not glass. I have peeled off both heaters and they both still stick.
