UTH Removal Issue

I had to replace a UTH today on one of my tanks becuase it died and didn't heat anymore. Anyways it was a complete pain in the azz to remove the old one. The sticky glue on that thing was so strong it was rediculous.

Anyone here use a UTH without sticking directly to the tank? I'm just curious if there is a better way.
 
You can use aluminum tape that you'd buy somewhere like Home Depot or Lowes.

What brand UTH died on you? I just had an ZooMed completely die (but that's not your brand, because they fall off themselves) and an ExoTerra that barely heats at all which I took out of service.
 
i put mine underneath the tank but found that it was had to stabilise, i have now taped mine underneath with duck tape and the temps are stable far better and the duck tape did not make a sticky mess and came off fairly easily
