Vacation question - how long between feeding

Duke and Daniel

New member
Duke is an almost 2 year old Snow Corn. He is eating a weanling every 7 to 10 days. We were trying to time Duke's feedings so that he wouldn't need to be fed while we were away on vacation next week. On Monday, 7/15, he was very active so we offered him a meal and he took it right away. We leave for vacation on 7/19 early am and don't return until 7/29. We have someone scheduled to check on him and change his water three times while we are gone. They are fine checking on him, but are a little squeemish about feeding him. Do you think he can go from 7/15 to 7/29 without a feeding?

He will be fine. I would _not_ have anyone change his water, but maybe top it off through his screen lid, if that's what kind of viv he has. Snakes _often_ escape when they are being babysat by someone other than the owner. I would actually put in two water bowls, in case he poops in one, but he ought to be done digesting by the time you leave. I would unplug his UTH so you don't have an overheating/fire risk while you are not in the home.

Snakes can go a very long time without food and water.. but having someone watch your snake that might not have any idea how to care for snakes is probably a way bigger risk then just leaving him for two days.
