Vent location??

Hi guys...
am still not too sure about how to locate the vent on my corn. There seems to be a little whitish patch towards the tail..would that be it?

If you look real close you can see a change in scales like a slit. That's the vent. If your snake has a patterned belly you might also notice a change of pattern after the vent. Also if you run your thumb gently over the area where you'd expect the vent, the snake might bend his tail back, allowing you to see the vent. Once you have got it, it's easy to find. It's kinda difficult to explain without knowing what sex and length your snake is. Could you post a pic of the tail end?

Also, a snakes belly will consist of single scales that go all the way across the belly. Towards the tail, the single scales turn into split double scales. Now on corns, the vent is right after the FIRST pair of split scales then the remaining scales are split as well. This first pair of split scales will also be larger. LOL, or another way is to watch them poop, then you'll get a real good idea where it is!

thanks, i'll definetely try and get some pics up asap. Just got to source around for a digicam.
carol..lol i did think of that..but thought that being under the tail when he goes..isnt a very good vantage position =P got splattered on once already! with a very rude noise accompanying it too! nothing smells worse than snake poop.

Snake regurges smell worse than snake poop:p And anal gland smell from a dog or cat runs pretty darn close as well...

As for watching your snake poop, you can judge where the vent is by how much of the tail raises up...even if you don't actually get close enough to get splattered :)
