Does anyone know a website where they sell vermiculture in bulk or anything?? Or any kind of stores that could sell it.
 
I think I've seen some in the garden section of a hardware store such as Lowes or Home Depot. I have a vague rememberence of going to buy some plants sometime and upon seeing some vermiculite thinking, "hey, thats the stuff you can incubate eggs in."
 
You could also try Perlite if you are looking for something to incubate your eggs in. I use it and it works great for me. Haven't had any problems so far. I picked up mine in Wal Mart. Of course, I got it when the gardening season in, don't know if they carry it all the time.
 
thankyou for the responses..i know i use peat moss for the egglaying box...but should i just used sphagnum moss ontop of vermiculture or perlite...??

First off, I'd suggest against using peat moss for the egglaying box. That stuff is nasty.

Secondly, it's vermiculite. Caroline Pet Supply sells it nice and coarse in gallon ziploc bags for cheap.

And thirdly..........vermiculture is compost made from worms, not a good choice :grin01:

Mmm.. yum.. sounds tasty... NOT...

I think the vermiculite can be found in most hardware stores in the garden section - that's where I find the stuff I bought - and nurseries (landscaping not the child care ones) and Joe mentioned one place that is specific to Florida I think.. You could also try WalMart, I know they carry some of those types of supplies. (Vermiculite, Perilite, vermiculture...)
