well i know my hypo male is a lil small for his age and thats my falt ive missed a couple feedings and went without feeding him for about 2 weeks (it sucks when you dont have a car or money to buy mice cuz im only 15) but i think he is maybe about 13 or 14 months old and about well my serwidgets measurer sed 17 inches does this sound pretty small for being 13 or 14 months old? my amel is kinda small 2 but he/she isnt as old maybe 9 months and about 15 inches i want them to get big so i guess what im really asking is do all corns get at least 3 1/2 feet long if they do then that will be good enough i would like them to be a lil bigger than that but that wuld be ok please reply

Don't worry.
They sound okay, just a tad bit small, but not all corns grow at the same rates.
Missing a feeding just once isn't too bad, alot of people's corns won't eat for much longer because they are refusing food.
Just try to keep to a feeding schedule and don't worry about how big they will be in the longterm, just worry about them now.
Remind your parents that when they allowed you to buy the snake, they also took on a responsibility. Good luck!

If you have the money, order some frozen rodents so that you don't have to worry about going out to get them. That of course if you can sneak them into the freezer without your mother having a heart attack. :D

What size rodents are you feeding and how many?

i know i jus found out about these sites where u can but mice im gonna get some from cajun mice im feeding them pinkies i jus started feeding them twice a week i still dunno if my hypo can eat a fuzzie i dont think so its jus the pinkies im feeding him are jus really small i once tried feeding them 2 pinkies one night after the ate about 5 days earlier and one of them regurgitated 2 mice i dont know what 1 did cuz thats when i had them in the same cage i seperated them now tho

Hey C do you have a heat source? if you dont then this could be a big problem... a snake that size should be feeding probably on about 1 fuzzy... I have a 18 inch sunglow... which is sorta small... and I feed him 1 fuzzy... if you think fuzzys are a bit big then go to the pet store and ask if you can pick out the pinky... go in the back and pick out the fat pinky which is almost a fuzzy... this will allow you to see at least if they can eat fuzzys... you would be suprised to see what snakes can get down! Im telling you it never seems to stop amazing me:D

yes i do have a heat source only 1 heat pad tho i still havent earned te money to get another one so what i do is feed my snakes on diff days of the week and try to equel the cage out in heat so after 1 snake eats i put the heat pad under its tank ya my hypo can eat a big pinkie in fact he ate 1 with a lil bit of fuzz and seemed to have no problem so i dunno ive just never seen a fuzzy so i dont know if he could eat 1 i think he could and also when they arent in a eating day i put the heater on the side of each rubbermade and i guess they both get the heat

If you only have one heat pad share it as long as it is big enough to heat half a tank either side you won't need to keep moving it. They only need half a tank heated so that they have a choice of warm or cool. Give the fuzzies a try even if it take's a while to get down the first time, in a few week's they go down a lot quicker. good luck

Get a thermometer

Sounds like you don't have one. It's necessary. People aren't that good at telling heat by feel alone. You don't want to accidentaly cook or freeze your snake.

Instead of buying another heat pad, try a light bulb. All my corns (save one) have heat lamps. A 20 watt regular bulb provided quite enough heat for them. The heat pads I've tried get WAY too hot without a thermostat too, like 90+ degrees. Have you taken the temp. of the cage with the heat pad?
