Vision Cages?

Does anyone use Visions for their corns?I have larger visions that I heat with dome light spot bulbs and they work great.I'm thinking of getting rid of my ARS rack system and switching to #221 vision cages for my corns.I have one adult in a 20 long tank right now and I like being able to watch her cruise around in the evening, instead of having to slide out a tub to see them. How well do the visions work with UTH? I want to stack up 6 #221 cages and heat them with flex watt,to try them out.I have a 6 plug Johnson therm to run it with.

To be honest, I would feel visions were far too expensive and space consuming for corns! But if you have the space and money go for it.

I use the 2ft herptek cube model for the arboreal stuff, but everything else is racked. I use ceramics and a heat mat at the bottom of the cage to provide a hot spot and a steady ambiant temperature. No issues with heat mats under the plastic as long as the thermostat probe is placed in a good position.

I find you need at least 2 thermostats per cage if your doing it that way just to make things as accurate as possible. If I only had one stat for all the ceramics or one stat for all the pads then if the ceramic stat blew, ALL the cages will overheat and I would fry everything in them, instead of one ceramic stat blowing and only one cage overheating.

The 221 cages are only 28x22x12.I like the way they stack and look. You can get them for around 100-140 bucks.I think they look way better than most of the other plastic caging(No cheesy hinges, chemical welds, etc.)I was thinking of running the therm probe into the hot side hide in the middle of the stack.I was just curious if anyone ever had problems using UTHs with them. Thanks for the reply.

You would have to control each cage individually if you wanted accuracy, so take into account you need 6 thermostats too! That will set you back a bit. I know I almost cried when I added up the total amount all my stats came to for under 20 snakes....

I think I could get away with running them on one therm. My rack and most that I have seen are run on one therm with the probe in a middle tub.I have a buddy with alot of racks,if he had a therm for every tub, they would be worth more than his house!!!For corns,I'm not to worried that I need exact temps. As long as the warm hides are between 80-90,They can move to whatever temp they want to sit at as long as I give them enough hides. The room I keep my reptiles in is pretty much at a consistent temp.My ARS rack has ten tubs and the top and bottom tub are with in a few degrees of each other.
