Vitamins

 What kinda of vitamins would all of you requimend for Dude. I am using a calcium spray right now and he seems to like it i was just wondering if any of you requimend a certian kind?

Vitamin spray is water in a bottle. Vitamins don't hold up long in liquid and snakes won't absorb them through the skin so basically its a waste of time and money. Big time.

You don't have to give a snake any vitamins, only feeder mice. But if you want to you can dust them once in a blue moon with reptile vitamin powder that is available at the pet store.

I use the Rep-Cal powdered vitamins and calcium. I mix together what I need at each feeding and dip the rear half of the mouse/rat in the powder and feed. Real simple and they are able to get the nutrients they need:D

Supplementing at every feeding might be a little much?? The fat soluble vitamins can build up in their systems.

I use Miner-All, but only for babies and only every 2nd to 3rd meal. I just dip the pinkys butt in it and shake off the excess. Pinkys have very little calcium in them (undeveloped bones).

I also use it for my breeding females, but only during the breeding season. I'm not sure if it helps or not, but it makes me feel better. I know it (Miner-All) made a big difference with my leopard geckos during breeding season (better looking eggs). Once again, I only use it every 3rd feeding for the females.

The best way to tell, would be keep some on the supplements and some off. Feed them all the same meals, and see if they live longer, are healthier, etc.

Just my opinion,

Here are a couple of threads that address the vitamin issue.

Inbreeding (this thread started out as one thing but also covered the vitamin issue)

Calcium Supplement.......

There are more if you want to search for them.:D

I use supplements at most every feeding for the males and every feeding for the females and babies. What that means is if I didn't mix up enough to go around the adult males won't get the supplements.

vitamins for feeders?

What about mixing vitamins in with food for feeder mice then feeding the mouse to the snake? Would this work? I know they do it for crickets. Would the snake be able to assimulate the vitamins in the mouses stomah?
