i have the heat mat under the ship on the right side and i have the tempeture thing beside the ship u can see in pic but that temp thing is only reading 70 maybe small bit below it??? im worried that the viv is cold for the snake i was told not to use a heat lamp on one side of the viv because there is no need Example Lamp Left Side Of The Viv on At Day And heat mat on right on at night....but im only using the heat mat now.. But if i put the temp thing on the glass over the heat mat it goes into the 80s seems like the heat is not coming true the reptile bark... Im from ireland and can get cold here during the winter.. the corn is in his own room and has piece and quite

the only thing that is worrying me about every thing is the heat everything else is ok :cry:
help Please

With that dial thermometer you won't get an accurate idea of how hot the heatmat actually is. You really need a digital in/out thermometer with probe. (Or a temp gun)

its seems cold in there like... is it ok? if he wants the heat he will find it will he? is the heat lamp not needed? on 1 side of viv for half a day?

Diamondlil gave you the best advice already. You need to get a probed thermometer to give you Accurate readings of your temperatures! We cannot tell you it is too warm or too cold based on pictures of a thermometer that isn't effective in this application.

is does it go by the heat on the bottom glass?? is the heat mat not ment to heat up the bark??? i have another heat mat which will cover up nearly half the viv is that too much?

Dial thermometers are insanely inaccurate and placing them on the wall of the tank will only give you a rough idea of the ambient air temperature, not the temperature where your corn hides/sleeps/digests. That is, unless your corn sleeps on the wall of the tank ;)

Here's a couple of links to digital thermometers, with probe, that will allow you to measure the temperature in the tank accurately, with this type you can measure both the warm and cool sides at the same time :)

The probe of the thermometer should be placed over the heat pad (which should cover approximately 1/3 of the floor space of the tank), under the substrate, under the warm hide, as this will tell you how hot, the hottest place your corn can get to is.

I think once you get one of these thermometers, or something very similar, you will find that the heat mat is actually too hot and you will need a thermostat to control the heat output of the mat. I use the ultratherm heat mats myself (I think that's what you've got, if I remember correctly from a previous picture you posted) and I guarantee they run at over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, which is too hot for a corn snake.

So here's a couple of links to websites where you can buy thermomstats too :)

Hope that helps :)
