vivarium problem

Hi
I've just got a new viv for one of my cornsnakes. It only has a small heat mat but the temperature is always fine, but there is loads of condensation on the inside of the glass doors and the substrate is damp.
I know that the snake hasn't knocked over the water bowl or anything but it always seems so humid inside the tank.
Any advice?
Thankx

yes

And if your water bowl is anywhere near the heat pad/source move it to the cool side of the tank and away from the heat as this increses humidity big time.

My advice is not to increase ventilation as this removes the temp gradient that you want in his home. Move the water bowl off the heat source, or partially on/off to get correct humidity. I live in the UK also and if you have the snake close to a draft then this I found also increases the condensation inside the tank....maybe an idea to move him ?? Good luck !

PS if your substrate is damp this will cause condensation as the heat source dries it out. I have the same problem with my leopard ghekkos viv. What substrate do you use?

I just use these brown wood chippings.
I left the tank door open for a night (without the snake!) and all the moisture seems to have dried out of it.
Its still a bit damp but the snake doesn't seem bothered by it.
I think it will just dry up over time.
Thanks for your advice.
