Want to be new snake owner... but...

if you really want to get 2 hatchlings divide the tank now, before getting the corns,

a couple of other tips, use indoor/outdoor digital temp guages to monitor temps in the viv as the ones that stick on the sides/back of the tank are not very accurate, you also want to measure the temperature on the substrate(if heating with a light) or under the substrate(if heating using a heat mat) not in the middle/top portion of the tank as your snake is not up there.

make sure the tank is escape proof, including the divider if you decide to divide and buy 2 corns, baby corns are MORE likely to have problems while being housed together then 2 adults(adults are less likely to eat/kill a similar sized cage mate).

although you would need to get a second good sized viv in the future as i think 1/2 a 55 gal would be fairly small for an adult corn.
so it would probably be easier just to get a second viv now and give both vivs lots of hides etc.

For those that use dividers, what do you use to divide? I'm guessing you don't want it to be glass or some other transparent object, since you don't want the snakes to see each other?

i don't have any tanks divided but i've heard of people using plexi glass etc,

most of my snakes can see other snakes, only time i think you need to block them from seeing each other is if one or both tend to strike at the glass when they see the other snake(or human)

i got a lot of aquarium at home.. so maybe i should just divide my tank into 2 from the start huh? then if they get big enough to the point where i think the divided tank is too small, i'll get another 55, they are dirt cheap...
