hi...........i have been wanting a snake for a while now........i have had iguanas and bearded dragons in the past...........and i was wanting to know a few things b4 i go to buy one.......

1. do the males get bigger than females?
2.how long can frozen mice stay in freezer without going bad?
3.how fast do cornsnakes grow?
4.Does one side of cage have to be slightly cooler than the other
5. how often do they shed
6.how much should i pay for one at pet shop or should i purchase from this site or cornsnakes.net

thats all the questions i can think of at the moment..........i have been reading several things about cornsnakes on this site and others......i am very eager to learn all i can so i can properly care for them and i am willing to listen to any advice anyone can give me

1. Females normaly get a little bigger than the males
2. For a long time!
3. They grow at different speeds. Normaly take about 3-4 years to finish most of their growing
4. Yes, its best to have a heat graduent
5. Every 1-3 months
6. It better to buy one from a breeder or someone who knows a lot about them. Shops tend to be pricey and the snakes tend not to be in great health.

do not go....

to a petshop. i made that mistake twice, i will never do it again. petshops are evil. find a knowledgable, trustworthy breeder and go about getting your pet that way. there's a very good chance you'll get an unhealthy snake if you go to a store, and they tend to rip you off...i paid $89 for my snow corn and have seen them online for $45-50. i don't mind anymore, i love him and i was fortunate enough to get one in great health. good luck, mate.

Males grow longer and heavier than females. What you pay will depend on the morph that you decide to buy. You can get the best deals at reptile shows, but sometimes you cant find that specific thing you are looking for.

I have ordered some snakes from Kathy Love and I have been very happy with them. There are alot of folks here who have bought from Rich here and I am sure they are great snakes as well. (I actually have a small order in atm that I am expecting in late July) If you order online you will pay alot in shipping, but you can pretty much get exactly what you want.
