Water dripping out of snakes mouth.

I was just holding my corn snake and suddenly water just started dripping out of her mouth and her mouth started pulsating. I'm probably just worrying over nothing but I'm just a little worried.

Sometimes they do that if they just had a drink a little before taking them out. If it continues, then there may be an issue. Does she have her mouth open a lot? Any popping noises?

The only time I've ever seen her mouth open is when she feeds. She seemed to be okay and moving around once I put her back in the viv. She was near her water bowl when I took her out. It really spooked me!

I have seen that in all the ring snakes I've caught..... I do not recall ever seeing any corns do this though

Well the day after this she started to shed. Her skin is coming off in pieces but she can't seem to break the skin on her head. Is this normal? Sorry I'm new to snakes.

Thanks for that. I thought they are meant to come off as one. Would the drop in temperature have anything to do with it? The air has gone quite dry, sorry for the bombardment of questions!

Yes, the dry air will do it. Humidity I would say should be 40% or higher, within reason. I mean you don't want it to be Amazonian style jungle in your setup.

I'm not sure what is available in your area, but a good hygrometer might be a worthwhile investment. I've actually heard cigar shops have some really nice options because of the interest in keeping cigars at a certain humidity, and they're usually pretty small too.

I will look into that, thanks everyone. We just put her in the tub with water and a washcloth and she shed straight away. Not completely sure whether the head bit has come off though.
