Water

Tap water's fine in the UK. Have used it for years without incident.

Do a search of this board - it's a topic that gets discussed no and again.

Your tap water should be ok, or filtered if that's what you drink. Most bottled waters are quite high in minerals, so probably best avoided.

Thankyou girls. I just wanted to make sure I was doing the best for Sid. As it happens it's tap water I'm using. Cheers for the feedback.

Just a quick question, why are the minerals in bottled water to be avoided? Does it cause ill effects? I am asking because I swear on reading on here bottled water is preferred for corns, and that is what I've been using for a year on my snakes and have had no problems that I am aware of, they are all eating, pooing, shedding and growing like they should, but now I'm thinking I should use tap water???

Tap water for the corns, but rainwater for myself. Just kidding, but I haven't heard of anyone having problems with tap water. Both tap and bottled have minerals in them (most tap water comes from public water systems anyway). I would say just save yourself the trouble and get water out of the faucet. I do treat the water for my turtle (but that is because he swims in it all day). I am pretty sure that the small amount of chlorine in my snakes water evaporates in a couple of hours anyway and it isn't enough to cause any problems. If you are worried about it I would buy one of those brita water filters and use that.

I'm not sure there's ever been that sort of agreement really. Some swear by bottled or filtered water, some wouldn't use anything other than tap water. There's always a bit of a debate when the topic is raised, which is why I suggested the OP did a search (wasn't trying to be awkward!). As with all things Corn, there are a range of pros and cons to each aspect of the discussion and everyone has to make their own decision about what's best to do.

If it helps, I've never read of harm coming to a Corn from either tap, bottled or filtered water. My take is that if it's fit for human consumption, then it's fine for Corns.

Except for the fact that snakes are MUCH more sensitive to toxins than humans.

The reason people say to use bottled water instead of tap water is because of the chlorine content in tap water.

Bottled for me.

Why did I have to open a can'o'worms? I guess tap water is going to vary the world over to a degree. So long as our corns are content and healthy we can but try for them.
