Which side of the tank should the waterbowl be on, the hot side of the cool side. I was thinking hot, but if they want to cool down in it that won't work very well, will it?
 
I have mine in the middle... :)

Some say to put it over the hotside to help raise humidity... I guess its all down to you really.
 
Well, I thought he would appreciate a little hot tub to soak in, LOL. And, I figured, water causes cooling down even if it is warm.
 
I would never put the waterbowl on the warmside. Would you like to drink warm water, nah neither would I? Also it can raise the humidity to undesireable levels.

I keep my waterbowls on the cool side, that way there is always cold fresh water for them to drink and or soak in if they need to cool down. But thats an unusual sight... If a snake is bathing excessivley theres something not right with the environment.
 
Definitely on the cool side, as Tula said, too high humidity isn't good.

And I wouldn't like to drink warm water either...yuk!

In fact, wouldn't bacteria breed quicker in warm water?...if so, not a good idea!
 
Yep limescale builds up much faster. I have to change the waterbowls every day instead of every second or third day in the summer because the bowls get slimy too quickly. And thats just due to the high ambient temperatures nevermind putting the bowl on the warm side.
 
REally? Interesting... I was always told not to let reptiles, or actually Small Animals either, have cold or cool water. Reptiles because it is supposed to lower their body temperature or something. Anyway, I guess that isn't quiet right.

That refers more to cold water from a refrigerator or iced water. Room temperature water is recommended.
 
I've got a water bowl on BOTH sides. I have a smaller one all the way at the cool end intended for him to drink from and I have a larger one at the warm end intended for him to soak in and to raise the humidity a bit. It gets too dry in our house during the winters.
 
Cold side only. Besides not wanting to drink warm water...I wouldn't...it also allows bacteria to rapidly be produced. They drink cold water out in the wild all the time. Your snake has a place to warmup if necessary so drinking cold water isn't a problem. If your humidity is too low, you should spray once in a while or just give them a humid hide to be in. I wouldn't just leave the humidity up all the time.
