I was just wondering if anyone else out there weighs their snakes regularly. We weigh all of them once a week just prior to feeding.
After doing this for a few months, our snakes consistently gain 5 Grams per week. I let all of them go a bit longer between meals this last feeding, 12 days vice 6-7 days. All but one gained 10 grams during this time....one only 5. I should say that all my four are 04's....my daughters Hypo is a early 05 and has been gaining weight at the same rate as mine.
All my 04's are taking 2 mouse fuzzys or 1 week old rat pup per feeding. The 05 takes 1 fuzzy or 1 day old rat pink per feeding.

I guess my question in here is, since I am still a newb....Is this excessive weight gain, or are they all about average?

They were all slightly different weights when I got them and now the 04's range between 80 and 90 grams. The Hypo 05 is 45 grams.

It depends on the individual snakes. I have two early '04s that are weigh 145g and 143g while I have another '04 that weighs only 50g. The previous two will eat anything you put in front of them (in this case 2 hoppers a week) and the other is picky (on two fuzzies a week). Most of my other 2004s are between 80-100g and on one hopper a week. Especially since we're just coming off of summer they will have gained a lot and it seems like you're doing fine. If I can I'll post the weekly or monthly weights of some of my snakes for you.

Thanks for the reply Katie. My rats just had two litters....I am planning on uping mealsize to my 04's this next feeding.

No problemo. I have all the weights for my yearlings gathered below. The dates are first followed by each individual snake and it's weight. Like I said before - it varies. My smallest is roughly 1/3 the size of my biggest. Go figure.
