I've yet to see a picture of one that looks like him.

I like the eyes on top of his head...

Opinions?

Well, when dealing with bloodred you need to ask yourself two things.

Is the ventral solid white---no checkers?

Does it have a 'grey' head?

I'd certainly say you got yourself a bloodred, you're just not used to the hatchling look. They start off drab and ugly, and turn into a nice bright red.

Heh. Those guys are badass.

I dunno if I'd call his current state "drab" either though. I picked him cuz of the pattern. I didn't know he was gonna go all solid on me.

I just hope he doesn't turn into a browned-out reddish color as opposed to bright red.

Just an FYI, ventral is not necessarily a solid white, but can have specks (not actual checkers) of black or splashes of red as well.

There are lots of posts indicating that the 'accepted' gray head is also not a definite indicator of being bloodred.

Just some additional information to throw into the pot.

Sorry, I should have specified about the ventral.

No need to apologize. Just wanted to add to the information you had already provided.

Torch, a belly shot and side shot would probably help some others around here comment on whether it is/could be a blood. I'm expecting my first clutch of hatchlings this summer, so am not the best to ask for certain.

His belly's white...

I'll try to get some more pictures when it's safe to harrass him again. He just ate a few hours ago. (And honestly, I don't want snake puke, or poo on me. We're not THAT well accquainted yet. :D )

I really dont see what else it could be, and it looks bloodred to me.

While the white belly and grey head certainly dont make it a bloodred, you can pretty easily deduce that it is.

What other moprhs have "greyish" heads? Stripes? Motleys? Bloodreds? Well, I certainly dont see either a motley or stripe pattern, so out goes that.

It has a white belly, which gives you the same choices as above.

That pretty much only leaves you with one thing, and the overall coloration matches that pretty well.

Awsome snake!

Do you mock me, ma'am? :eek1:
(as generally, rolling ones eyes after a comment denotes some form of sarcasm.)
