What age should I get?

Hey, I might be getting a corn snake finally, but I'm not exactly shure what age to get. My local reptile store has these really nice hatchling that have already had 3-7 meals. But then they have some nice yearlings, an adult and a corn x king yearling. Thoughts?

Thanks!

I got a one month old last year and he's fine. However, I have heard of people getting new borns who don't eat. If you get an adult you can't watch it grow. I think a yearling is a good age to get, since they're obviously eating and they're still babies. I think that's what I'm going to get this year.

I have bought everything from hatchling to gravid adult. The hatchlings are nice because you can get them for a good price. Adults are nice if you are wanting to breed anytime soon. If you have time to grow them out or aren't wanting to breed soon, I too would recommend yearlings. You are out of the baby phase and they are pretty cool to handle and watch grow!

I'm partial to yearlings and would recommend them, since they are past the tender hatchling phase where they are so scared, but still young enough that you can watch their colors change some as they grow. Still have that little snakie cuteness to them too! hehe

I think the best snake for starters are Corn snakes as Juvenilles because you can get to know them as they mature and know what they prefer.

I got my snake when she was a month old. It's nice to have them young because you know exactly how they've been handled, fed, and generally treated. My yearling is a lot calmer than she was when I first got her, and I like that!
