What do you call yours?

Here we go...

Our babies are :

Corns:
Willow (amel grown-up girly)
Spike (male normal grown-up boy, Willow's boyfriend)

Angel (male motley ghost baby, but growing up oh so fast (sniff))

All the names are from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (because we tried and tried and tried when we got the first two and couldn't think of anything we liked!)

So then we got:
Western Hognose, supposed to be called Zander, because he's really cheeky, but just gets called 'little hoggie' on a day to day basis.

And now we're waiting for a beautiful female boa, who was going to be called Glory. Very inkeeping with the quiet strength and beauty of the animal, we thought. And then a lady at work asked when 'Barbara the Boa' was coming home, and that was that. Now she's going to be 'Babs'!

You'll just know when you've got the right name for you!

Have fun with your corn anyway!

Brig.
:D

mine are:

Normal corn (boy) - cinnamon
Motlely corn (girl) - tango
I named them before I knew there sex so the names can either go for male/female

Well....

All of my snakes have names, except for the babies that are for sale! Some of them are stupid names, and some have a theme, etc. Some of them got their names because they were the first names that popped into my head at the time. I'm gonna' run them all by you!

All of my snow corns have "snow" names except one: Alaska, Blizzard, Avalanche...and Marshmallow (still a white, fluffy name though).

My anery corn's name is Riley.

My normal corn's names are: Diesel (after Vin Diesel), Munchkin, Sugar, Vinny, and Widget (no patterns here).

My normal motley corn's name is Scooby, because of his color.

My normal striped corn's name is Skidmark because my daughter said it looks like he has tire marks down his back.

My amel corn's names are: Fantasy, Sizzlin' (cause he's the color of fire), Survivor (because he only weighed 3 grams when he hatched...and he survived).

My butter corn's name is Popcorn...get it? Butter Popcorn!!!

My orange creamsicle's name is Tango...because she is tangerine colored.

My amel striped cal king's name is Aspen.

My desert phase cal king's name is Yokio.

My Pueblan milk's name is Chexmex.

My Tangerine Honduran milk's name is Wild Thang...because she is WILD!

Well, that's all (for now)! Good luck naming your snake(s)!!!

Skidmark...

It's one of my favorites, too! You just have to get creative...especially when you have a "few" snakes. Of course, we DO only have a few snakes compared to a lot of the members here! I bet we might win if there was a contest on how quickly we got addicted, though. We've only had snakes since February of this year :D :D :D

Have fun!

I agree with picking a name that you like and one that fits your snake. Sometimes a name will just pop into my head and sometimes it takes a few days to a week of looking at the snake to pick a "perfect" name. Don't worry about copying someone else's names, unless you live close enough to them where it would be a problem. They might consider it an honor, imitation being the sincerest form of flattery.

My babies' names are:
1. Smoke - a ghost adult male, because of his color. We used to have Flame, a sunglow motley female, for the color, but she escaped when she was a baby and we never found her.

2. Spot - a normal two year old male. I liked the name because he had kind of spots on his back and it is a take-off of a dog's name.

3. Ferrari - a normal stripe female yearling. She has the racing stripe down her back and is kind of reddish.

4. Foxy - an oketee baby girl. She is a foxy looking girl, very stunning to look at, even now, and I know she will grow up to be even better.

5. Flower - a hypo female baby girl. She is as beautiful as a flower and I am trying to keep the girl cornsnakes with an "F" initial.

6. Elsie - a creamsicle baby girl, named after Elsie the cow.

My hondurans got named with artists' names because they are a piece of art.

1. Emcee - an adult rescue normal male Honduran, long for MC Escher (spelling?).

2. Picasso - a 2 1/2 year old tangerine Honduran male.

3. Phyllis - a 1 1/2 year old tangerine Honduran female, named after one of my son's art teachers.

and then I have one female children's python, born this past spring, who is named Lacey, because of her pattern, which is destined to fade as she gets older.

Here's mine,

Aki - (Normal female, means autumn in Japanese, extremely shy but very gentle and inquisitive when handled, colors look exactly like a forest floor littered with autumn leaves)

Lillith - (Blizzard female, gosh she's psychotic, biter)

Waggamuffin - (Amel Male, he's a wierdo, he likes to curl up in my hair)

Great GoogaMooga - (or Googa for short, Okeetee male, he's a wierdo too, but it's his psychotic bluff hissing and tail rattling that made me name him that, but he never ever bit me.)

Non-corns:

Buttress - (female butler's garter snake)

w00t - (male sinaloan milk, literally the first thing I said when I got him, so the name stuck)

Okay here's the wierdest snake I have (or had rather, sorry thing died on me):

Hitotsu and Futatsu - (a bicephalic?? or two headed  eastern garter. The head on the left was called hitotsu for number 1, and the head on the right was called futatsu for number 2. He/she/it/they died after 5 months of being birthed by a WC eastern. I wanted to perserve the body somehow and put it in a brick of epoxy or something but at my age of 6 I had no clue how to do either:( )

thanks for all this guys...
i now have my snake.. bit it STILL doesnt have a name!
in the end i bought a snow cornwhich seems to be settling in well, but naming is still proving a difficulty :)
i guess within a day or 2 i`ll have thought of something

snake names

Glad to hear your new baby is settling in well.Don't worry a name will come, with the last corn I got Ozzy it took me a good week before it came to me.Our other corns names are/were Pumpkin,Cocco Puffs,Tickles and Dexter all who were named by my 3 and 5 y.o. sons.
The funny thing is the boys had names for them as soon as they seen them while the only snake I got to name and it took me forever to think of a name.
Martha :)

aha!

got a great name ... done some research into greek mythology (yay for google!) and discovered that the greeks had a goddess of snow, Chione, appropriately enough the daughter of the god of winter (who`s name ive forgotten again:) )
So there we go, problem solved... Chione it is :)

I believe...

Chione is pronounced key-o-nay (The o is long). I could be wrong, but that's how I have heard it before.

i`d agree with that pronunciation - some wqebsites have chione spelt with a K -Khione (translation from ancient greek is never 100% accurate) so i guess the Ch is pronounced hard, is Key-own-ee
:)

My baby is called Kellogg... as in Kellogg Corn Snakes... the guy at the store said it was quite origonal... it also works both ways.. if she is female... it's shortened to K...

my lil dude is called mitch after the big snake on the film road trip
cant remember for the life of my what kind it was.......mitch is tiny.....mitch on the film is huge....thats why its so cute!!!!!!!!

Ah ha!

See? Already a few matches. I have the same name for my snake as CornCrazy, for the same reason.

Diesel the Creamsicle Corn was named after Vin Diesel. Because he reminds me of a snake, in a good way. :)

Though mostly She, yes, she, is called Deez.

My next corn.. I don't know! I think the Ball Python I want, i'll let my boyfriend name, since he's so fond of them. I don't think i'll name them after anybody this time. I usually just pick the first name they strike me as. Anything that suits.

i named mine...

Well i only have one corn and his/her ( i dunno) name is Jesse. if u dont know the sex of your snake you might want to name it a name that goes good with both sexes. I named it jesse for if its a girl than short for jessica but a guy like Jesse James. so maybe it can help.:)

Mine are ecclectic names at best..

Don't worry if your names happen to be someone else's snake's name. The law of numbers guarantees that it's going to overlap somewhere. =P

I think most of my names have a darker meaning, I guess that's my personality coming out.

Here are mine:

**************************************************
5 year old female Normal Motley:

Hecate - Moon/Magic Greek Goddess

Website about Hecate:

Hecate

- Named her that because she was magical when I saw her at the store the day I bought her. Had the looks and personality I was looking for.

**************************************************
2 year old male Normal Striped:

Diablo - aka The Devil, Satan, Lucifer, etc

- Named him that because his eyes have this evil look to them, just looks plain mean. =P

**************************************************
4 year old male Snow:

Frost: Kind of goes with the whole snow theme.

- But mostly for the vampire character "Deacon Frost" from the movie Blade

**************************************************
Yearling male Charcoal:

Kingsford: Kingsford Charcoal

- Bout the only thing I could think of when I thought of charcoal. =P

**************************************************
Yearling female Butter:

Parkay: Okay, it's not butter...but it's close enough. =P

- Thought about popcorn names, but Reddenbacher and Act 2 just didn't sound feminine enough. =P

**************************************************
Yearling female Blizzard:

Schnee: German for "snow"

- So she's not a snow, but she's as white as snow. Weiss (white) just didn't sound like a good name.

**************************************************
Yearling male Charcoal Ghost:

Spectre: Ghost, Spirit, etc

- He's a charcoal ghost hence the name. Although now I should have named him something more demonic, as he has a personality from Hell. Bites, musks, and hisses. =P

**************************************************
Yearling female Reverse Okeetee:

Trix: Trix Rabbit from the Trix Cereal

- She has white rabbit ears that look exactly like the Trix rabbit's on her head.

**************************************************
Yearling male Okeetee:

Ungeheuer: "Monster" in German

- He's a handful and never wants to be held even for the shortest of time.

**************************************************

I have a pair of 2003 Hypo Lavenders on order for delivery sometime in August. So I need to think of names for those two. =P

Enjoy!
