What do you hate about smoking/smokers? (Smokers this isn't the thread for you!)

I hate the fact that my best friend will go through the anniversary of her father's death next week because he died of lung cancer. She is getting married in May and she will have to do it without her father. Her father never met her fiance either.

This thread may help you out as well...

I 'hate' smoking, and I 'hate' smokers (ok, I don't actually hate the person, usually, but I do hate being around smoke)

It's a waste of money...directly and indirectly. Indirectly being the health concerns, and not only for smokers. I don't like that I have to suck in second hand smoke from someone I walk by on the street...endangering my own lungs and health even though I choose not to smoke. I've seen other health problems. My grandfather has had emphysema for as long as I can remember, gets pneumonia almost every year. When I was young I did not have asthma, I now have asthma most likely caused by second hand smoke because 90% of my family smokes. Smoking kills people, smoking sends people to the hospital, smoking makes people sick, smells nasty, costs too much...and is pointless except as a crutch whether it is perceived or not.

That being said it makes me happy to see when people decide they want to quit. And I know it is hard, so I wish the best of luck.

I hate smoking as well. Where I live, smoking indoors is completely illegal (and nobody in my family smokes) so whenever I get exposed to secondhand cigarette smoke I find it even worse than I otherwise might. As part of my job, I have to go to this HORRIBLE bar/saloon place with one of my clients on Monday nights, and the owner of the saloon completely ignores the law and sits there chain smoking all night. I hate it because it's disgusting and I can't even do anything to remove myself. When I come home, all my clothes and my hair smell like cigarette smoke which is just awful. I dread it every week, but I can't afford to drop that shift so I suffer through. Usually on Tuesdays I'll feel a little bit sick from all the secondhand smoke.

I also hate smoking because I have no good memories of my paternal grandmother. She died from lung cancer when I was young, and my only memories of her are being absolutely terrified by her horrible hacking cough.

I wish you the best of luck in quitting.

I hated working in a vet hospital and seeing animals come in and die of problems caused by exposure to second hand smoke by their owners.
