What do you think of this enclosure?

I am going to get my first corn snake at the next White Plains expo. I have a 20L tank with a sliding top and some accoutrements. I know it's not ready yet, I need an under tank heater and substrate, etc. my question is that there seems to be a gap between the tank and the sliding top and I wonder, after reading some of the stories here 😳, if you think a snake can escape and what I can do to make it more secure. Any advice, about security or care in general, would be welcomed!

If you can wiggle your finger in there at all, an average sized yearling could probably escape pretty easily. If there's any give to the lid, an adult might even be able to squeeze out with enough force. I personally wouldn't trust it, especially if you're looking to get a 2016. My biggest from this year is about 55g and I wouldn't bet on him staying in there.

I have that same tank for my Dubia roaches. Yours is missing an important part that go's along that top side of the tank. It attaches to the sliding lid and seals that edge when closed.
DO NOT USE IT :) Even an adult corn could escape easily with a little pushing on the unsecured side that is missing the piece.

BTW that tank with the complete sliding top is inescapable. It's the tank I recommend to people looking for a tank.

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. I'll try to find the missing piece. Is it possible to buy a new sliding top without having to get another whole tank?
