What Heat Mat?

The strip style heatmats are OK but, personally, I'd go for a square one under one end of the tank. Something like the 11x11 (http://www.all4reptiles.co.uk/acatalog/Heat_Mats.html) they show here would do that tank fine as you'll be heating one entire half of the tank. I know you would with a long strip as well but the temperature gradient works better going side to side than front to back in a tank like that.

You may want to think about going one tank size up if you can and getting a 36" long one. That'll do an adult corn for it's whole life. You *can* get away with a 24" but it's right at the bottom end of tank size for a fully grown corn, a 36" would be a better bet.

You don't need a UV light with corns.

I see you're in the UK. Winters can get a bit chilly here. If it's an aquarium you're using you can mount a 15 watt striplight in the hood and use that for a bit of extra heat in the winter as well .... thats what I do.

Oops!

Just actually looked at the link for the tank. You'll want some sort of hood/lid on that. With a full mesh top all the heat and humidity will just rise straight out of the tank. Fine now but holding a good temp in the winter could be a problem with that tank as it is.
 
Looked at those and liked them, but has to sit on top of a darkish pine dresser/sideboard. Wife thinks another wood or the light pine would not look good on top of this. She's probably right and it is in the living room.
